Daphne Corcoran's Fabrications

DCF is run by Daphne Corcoran. I was born and grew up in The Netherlands. I now live with my family in Stonehaven, Scotland. My love for arts and craft has kept me busy and learning new skills is a key part of this. Sewing has been at the root of it all but has branched out into all directions. It is in everyone to create and by doing so to enjoy. Sharing this knowledge  gives me great pleasure. I love teaching children and adults alike.

Daphne Corcoran's Fabrications

It's all in the name: Daphne Corcoran's Fabrications. I love working with fabric in the broadest sense. I sew, I sculpt and create and teach. Together they are my fabrications. To teach people is a real joy and I love it when my students than go on to create their own fabrications. I have worked with fabric for over 40 years as I sat next to my mum as a little girl who was a professional seamstress.

Now I am living with my family in Scotland but I grew up in The Netherlands. That is where I went to school and I received my formal training. In later years when the children were younger I concentrated on ceramics which was both very enjoyable and challenging. Now I have been able to combine my love for sculpting and fabric.

It was 2 years when ago I rediscovered fabric sculpting. A universal medium called Powertex came to my attention and I was instantly hooked. It has many applications in mixed media. It can be the base for clay and stone art as well as on a canvas. I became a certified tutor for Powertex in September 2016.

Being busy with Art and Craft is what I love best but making can be a lonely business. The sharing of my skills and watching others grow confidence and have joy is very rewarding part of my work.  I teach sewing classes, private lessons and Powertex based workshops.

I am also available for  Powertex craft parties for young and old. Powertex is waterbased and non-toxic.

I hope to see you at one of my workshops or in sewing class.
